The show American Megastar is the hottest thing on television but its associate producer, Mandalay Florentino, is worried. She's just arrived in the tiny town of Daily, Texas, to arrange a surprise "reunion concert" for hometown finalist Amber Amberson. Only it turns out everyone in town seems to know the secret. And paparazzi are arriving. Word from Hollywood is that Amber has disappeared with a "bad boy" actor. Can anything go right in this tumbleweed town? Imagene Doll loves her town of Daily, Texas, but things are lonely without her beloved husband. Life seems dull. At least until that fancy-dressed woman pulls into town, looking terrified and glamorous all at once. Soon life's not the least bit boring as Imagene and the rest of Daily find themselves at the center of a media maelstrom--with a young girl's future on the line.

A fun read

A fun read that's tolerably well-written. Ms. Wingate's characters are engaging and real and there's more depth to them than in the usual romance novels. I admit I was a bit put off by the lack of intuition displayed by the protagonist regarding the handsome stranger in town. I personally prefer women who are portrayed to be as intelligent as we are in real life and I think our heroine here had that potential. Nevertheless a very enjoyable read - definitely great beach reading.

I found this novel fun, engaging and easy to read. I thougth the characters were well done and I was fully engaged and looking forward to the next chapter. This is a great book to take on vacation! I plan on reading more Lisa Wingate novels.

A new author to watch out for

Well my first introduction to this author was not a waste of money. Lisa has managed to weave a nice tale around a quaint town and some genuine characters. Of course there's the obligatory happen ending, but I'll be looking to read more of Lisa Wingate soon.

Simple yet pleasant

I got this book when it was offered for free. As far a free books go it was fantastic. As far a books in general go it was decent. The book is definitely entertaining but the plot was a little bit flat and uninteresting. The characters are decent but don't really flourish because the plot is a bit slow and labored.

Wow! What a read!

I had read some of the reviews and was in one of those moods when I purchased it..."not gonna make ME laugh..."

I was sucked right into the story and found myself chuckling more than once. The story is good and kept me turning the pages.
